FAQ
Are all FADI GEMS stones natural and untreated?
We sell natural, Earth-mined gemstones, and any laboratory-grown or synthetic material is labelled as such. We describe treatment honestly. A stone is only called untreated when that is supported by gemmological testing or an independent laboratory report; otherwise we say what we know and what we do not.
Will I receive a laboratory certificate?
Only when a report exists for that stone. Each listing states whether a report is available and which laboratory issued it. We never imply certification that a listing does not show, and independent testing can usually be arranged on request for an additional cost.
What is the difference between a species and a variety?
A species is the mineral itself, such as corundum or beryl. A variety is a colour or optical form of that species. Ruby and sapphire are both corundum, and emerald and aquamarine are both beryl. Our Gemstone Encyclopedia sets this out for every stone we list.
What do trade names like “Paraíba-type” or “Jedi spinel” mean?
Trade names are market terms, not mineral names. We always show the true species alongside the trade name, so you can see exactly what you are buying.
Is the cultural and birthstone information a promise of any effect?
No. Birthstone, folklore and symbolism content is historical and cultural context only. FADI GEMS makes no medical, psychological or metaphysical claims about any gemstone.
Where do your stones come from?
Pakistan is a source of Karakoram and Himalayan minerals, and we also work with material from other regions. We state an origin only when we can support it, and otherwise a listing will say the origin is undocumented rather than guess.
How do I pay?
Prices are in Pakistani Rupees (PKR). A USD figure on some pages is an indicative conversion only and is never charged. Available methods are shown at checkout. Manual methods such as bank transfer keep your order on hold until we confirm the payment. See Payment Information for details.
Do you ship internationally?
Delivery options depend on the destination, the value of the parcel and the carrier. We confirm insured shipping and any duties or import taxes with you before a high-value order is finalised. See Shipping & Delivery.
Can you source a specific stone for me?
Yes. Our Bespoke Sourcing service is for buyers looking for a particular species, colour, size or budget. Send a brief through the contact form and we will reply with what we can realistically find.
Can you make jewelry with a stone I buy?
Yes. Jewelry Customization covers settings designed around a chosen stone. We agree the design, metal and timeline with you in writing before work begins.
Do you work with trade buyers?
Yes, with jewelry designers, dealers and wholesale buyers. Use the Wholesale & Trade page to introduce your business and tell us what you are looking for.
How do I care for my gemstone?
Hardness, cleaning and storage differ widely between stones. Our Gemstone Care page gives general guidance, and each Encyclopedia entry lists care notes for that stone.
