From the Mountains

Pakistan’s northern ranges, including the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush, are home to a remarkable variety of minerals and gem materials. This page tells the story of where our stones begin.

A source region

Mountain-building along these ranges has produced pegmatites, metamorphic belts and mineralised veins. Crystals form where those conditions allow them to grow, and are later found by miners working in demanding high-altitude terrain.

Honest provenance

Origin affects how a stone is described and valued, so we only state a locality when it can be supported. Otherwise a listing reads “origin not documented”. Browse by geological origin on the Shop by Origin page.
